After years of official pronouncements to the contrary, significant new evidence has emerged that strengthens the case that the SARS-CoV-2 virus accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

According to multiple U.S. government officials interviewed as part of a lengthy investigation by Public and Racket, the first people infected by the virus, “patients zero,” included Ben Hu, a researcher who led the WIV’s “gain-of-function” research on SARS-like coronaviruses, which increases the infectiousness of viruses.

More than three years after the pandemic’s outbreak, many around the world had given up on learning the origin of SARS-CoV-2, the highly infectious respiratory virus that has killed millions, and the response to which shut down businesses and schools, upended societies, and caused enormous collateral damage.

Public officials in the U.S. and other countries have repeatedly suggested that uncovering the pandemic’s origin may not be possible. “We may never know,” said Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who oversaw pandemic response for two administrations.

Now, answers increasingly look within reach. Sources within the US government say that three of the earliest people to become infected with SARS-CoV-2 were Ben Hu, Yu Ping, and Yan Zhu. All were members of the Wuhan lab suspected to have leaked the pandemic virus.

As such, not only do we know there were WIV scientists who had developed COVID-19-like illnesses in November 2019, but also that they were working with the closest relatives of SARS-CoV-2, and inserting gain-of-function features unique to it.

When a source was asked how certain they were that these were the identities of the three WIV scientists who developed symptoms consistent with COVID-19 in the fall of 2019, we were told, “100%”

“Ben Hu is essentially the next Shi Zhengli,” said Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and coauthor with Matt Ridley of Viral: The Search for the Origin of Covid19. Shi is known as “the bat woman of China,” and led the gain-of-function research at the WIV. “He was her star pupil. He had been making chimeric SARS-like viruses and testing these in humanized mice. If I had to guess who would be doing this risky virus research and most at risk of getting accidentally infected, it would be him.”

Hu and Yu researched the novel lineage of SARS-like viruses from which SARS-CoV-2 hails, and in 2019 coauthored a paper with Shi Zhengli that described SARS-like lineages they had studied over the years.

Jamie Metzl, a former member of the World Health Organization expert advisory committee on human genome editing who raised questions starting in early 2020 about a possible research-related pandemic origin, said, “It’s a game changer if it can be proven that Hu got sick with COVID-19 before anyone else. That would be the ‘smoking gun.’ Hu was the lead hands-on researcher in Shi’s lab.”

Sources tell Public and Racket that other news organizations are chasing aspects of this story. On Saturday, The Times of London quoted an anonymous U.S. State Department investigator saying, “It has become increasingly clear that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was involved in the creation, promulgation, and cover-up of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Public and Racket are the first publications to reveal the names of the three sick WIV workers and place them directly in the lab that collected and experimented with SARS-like viruses poised for human emergence.

Next week, the Directorate of National Intelligence is expected to release previously classified material, which may include the names of the three WIV scientists who were the likely among the first to be sickened by SARS-CoV-2.

A bill signed by President Biden earlier this year specifically called for the release of the names and roles of the sick researchers at the WIV, their symptoms and date of symptom onset, and whether these researchers had been involved with or exposed to coronavirus research.

On Dec. 29, 2017, two years before the pandemic began, Chinese state-run television aired a video that includes a scene of Ben Hu watching a lab worker handle specimens. Neither are wearing protective gear. The same video shows WIV scientists hunting for bat viruses with little protective gear. “If they were worried about being infected in the field, they would need full body suits with no gaps” to be safe, said Chan. “That’s the only way.”

The WIV research with live SARS-like viruses was performed at too low of a safety level, “BSL-2,” explains Chan, “When we now know that the pandemic virus is even capable of escaping from a BSL-3 lab and infecting fully vaccinated young lab workers.”

While scientists justify such research as necessary for developing vaccines, President Barack Obama banned federal funding for gain-of-function research of concern in 2014, because experts had come to the consensus that it was too dangerous. However, the National Institute of Health and NIAID headed by Francis Collins and Fauci, and a major U.S. government grantee, EcoHealth Alliance, deemed their work on SARS-like viruses as not falling under the gain-of-function research of concern definitions and funded this project in China and Southeast Asia.

In March 2018, the WIV, the EcoHealth Alliance, and the University of North Carolina applied for a $14 million grant from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Project Agency DARPA to engineer “furin cleavage sites” into SARS-like coronaviruses to study how this affected their ability to grow and cause disease.

Scientists say the key piece of the COVID-19 virus, which made it so transmissible compared to its closest relatives, was its unique furin cleavage site.

DARPA rejected the grant, but it now appears the WIV went forward with the research anyway. The Times of London reported that US collaborators of the WIV had come forward and said the Wuhan scientists had put furin cleavage sites into SARS-like viruses in 2019.

Hu co-authored multiple papers on coronavirus research, including a 2017 paper on chimeric bat coronaviruses with Peter Daszak, the head of EcoHealth Alliance, which was funded in part by the NIH and the USAID Emerging Pandemic Threats PREDICT Program. Data privately shared with the NIH revealed that these chimeric SARS-like viruses grew far more quickly and caused more severe disease in humanized mice in the lab.

When the WIV put out their first paper about the pandemic virus, they failed to point out the novel furin cleavage site despite having had plans to and allegedly putting such gain-of-function features into SARS-like viruses in their lab. “It’s as if these scientists proposed putting horns on horses, but when a unicorn shows up in their city a year later they write a paper describing every part of it except its horn,” said Chan.

Public sent emails and made phone calls to the NIH, WIV, EcoHealth Alliance, Daszak, Hu, and Shi over the last several days and did not hear back.

It is unclear who in the U.S. government had access to the intelligence about the sick WIV workers, how long they had it, and why it was not shared with the public. “You would expect the country of origin to be defensive,” said Chan, “but you wouldn’t expect a country receiving the virus to be withholding key evidence.”

On January 15, 2021, five days before President Joe Biden took office, the U.S. State Department published a fact sheet that pointed to the likelihood of a lab leak as the cause of a pandemic.

Already, the State Department in 2021 suspected that the WIV had lied to the public. “The U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illnesses. That raises questions about the credibility of WIV senior researcher Shi Zhengli’s public claim that there was ‘zero infection’ among the WIV’s staff and students by SARS-CoV-2 or SARS-related viruses.”

In February of this year, the Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, told a reporter that “the FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan.”

The Times of London reported that State Department investigators “found evidence that researchers working on these experiments were taken to hospital with Covid-like symptoms in November 2019.” As previously reported in Vanity Fair, some of the information State Department investigators found in 2021 was “sitting in the U.S. intelligence community’s own files, unanalyzed.”

“Ever since I put out my [May 2020] preprint [research paper] saying that an accidental lab origin was possible, I was criticized as a conspiracy theorist,” said Chan. “If this info had been made public in May of 2020, I doubt that many in the scientific community and the media would have spent the last three years raving about a raccoon dog or pangolin in a wet market.”

He said, “I went for a programme at Abia state, I spoke in tongues while on stage, and when we got to our hotel room, he [vice-president of the record label] was asking me why I spoke in tongues on stage. He shouted at me. I was trying to explain to him that it was not my fault, I was led by the Holy Spirit, the next thing, he gave me the first slap, the second slap, the third slap, the fourth slap, and I started crying because my parents weren’t with me, they were in Lagos state. I didn’t have anyone, so I came back to Lagos state.”


He also revealed that as a result of the fallout, the record label who had been sponsoring his education, cut him off from school and instead employed a home lesson teacher who taught him only three subjects out of nine he takes in school.
He said, “It was my first term in SS2, I dropped out from school, and I stayed at home for four months while my classmates were at school studying. They [record label] just stopped me from going to school, saying they will be bringing a home lesson teacher to take me at home because of security reasons.”
Daniel added he believed that God is going to take him places, especially now that he is about to embark on an independent music journey.

The Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, UK, has sentenced former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, to nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking. The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years and six months jail term.

Recall that on March 23, the court found Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, guilty of trafficking a trader from Nigeria to the UK to harvest his organ, a crime under the United Kingdom Modern Slavery act 2015. The jury held that they conspired to bring the 21-year-old to London to exploit him for his kidney.

The verdict is the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the UK.

1. Dr. Paul Enenche’s roots in the faith can be traced way back to his University days when he was in his words, “a full time Christian and Part-Time Medical Student”. Many of his one-time colleagues (who are now scattered around the world) knew him from his campus days as a young medical student on fire for God and they testify till this day that the intensity of his Spiritual fire and passion has not reduced.

2. The ministry of Dr. Paul Enenche is a people-raising commission. His ministry is replete with people who came in battered, shattered and dry as Aaron’s rod; but as they pitched their tent in the commission and did as they were taught, with time, they began to blossom and bloom – in grace, in the anointing, and in affluence.

3. He does not downplay the importance of Education. As a Medical student, some of his schoolmates zealously dropped out of school to start ministry but he advised himself to stay put and finish Medical school.

4. He honours those who have gone ahead of him especially in Ministry. You can never catch half a derogatory or disrespectful word about any father in the faith from his mouth. As a matter of fact, to talk disrespectfully about any of them in his presence is to instantly lose his friendship.

5. He is a beacon of Integrity. If you or your money looks suspicious and you come to him with an offering, you can rest assured that he will ask you to explain what you do and how your business works; and your answers must be well above satisfactory.

6. He is visibly touched by the needs of the people and his compassion for people can be felt when he prays for those in need of Divine Help.

7. For Dr. Enenche, no miracle is ever too small or “regular” to rejoice about. He shouts for joy and dances at even the kind of miracles that have happened through his hands a thousand times. Watching him shout and dance at the sight of such miracles, one may mistakenly conclude that it’s the first time such a testimony is being recorded.

8. He has a large vocabulary of words with which he succinctly expresses himself and when normal words fail to fully convey his point, he creates his own. Two examples are “Anointmosphere” (an atmosphere that is saturated with the Anointing of The Holy Ghost) and “Humons”(Wicked people that are too physical to be called demons, and are too devilish to be called Human beings).

9. He is committed to family life. He does not spare careless parents and irresponsible parenting. To Dr. Enenche, there are no “missing children” in the course of the service; only “Missing Parents”.

10. ALL his messages direct the focus of the listeners back to God, and to the importance of cultivating a buoyant personal relationship with The Lord.

11. The ministry he oversees is characterized by the tangible, feelable, palpable presence of God. The same atmosphere is obtainable even in the location branches and harvest centres. A large percentage of people that attend the Healing & Deliverance Services do so not for the need of Divine healing, but to camp around, and enjoy the weighty atmosphere of the Presence of God in the service.

12. “Altar calls” are an important element of his ministration whether in the ministry he oversees, or as a minister invited to preach in another ministry.

13. Dr. Paul Enenche is brutally committed to, and serious about his assignment. Years ago as a pastor living in a rented apartment with his family, a Billionaire contacted him on a Tuesday morning(during the Healing and Deliverance Service); proposing to show him a 7 bedroom duplex (with a basement and other facilities) with the intention of giving it to him either for free or at a highly subsidized cost. He declined the proposal because according to him, it was service time and the Billionaire fellow refused to postpone the house inspection to a later time or day. Today, no “House Gift” can be considered a testimony to him no matter how big.

14. Dr. Enenche is very unassuming. You may walk past him and not know that he is the “Dr. Enenche”. A story is told of a lady who met him outside the premises of the “Area 1 Church” sometime ago and casually asked him to direct her to the “Senior Pastor”. She was shocked when she was later informed that she had infact met him on her way into the building.

15. Dr. Enenche is a tell-it-all mentor. He is one to tell you what he did to get to where he is. This trait is very rare among leaders possibly for fear that their mentees and protégés might become greater than them while they are alive.

16. He has zero patience for half-truths and corruption because according to him, “God can never bless a lie.”

17. He has zero patience for exaggeration because in his words, “You cannot make God bigger than He already is.”

18. He is strict about prompt payment of Staff Salaries. It is an offence in the commission to delay salaries of ministry staff into the next month. Even in the peak of the Construction of The Largest Church auditorium in the world (The Glory Dome),the commission did not ower labourers for a single day; neither were wages carried over to the next day for any reason whatsoever.

19. At the end of every year, staff of the ministry consistently smile home with “13th month salary”. In the heat of the Economic Recession where Governments were unable to pay salaries, Dunamis Staff salaries was increased to help ease the stress of the recession on their staff.

20. He appreciates diverse skills and talents of people, but he believes that it is better to be anointed than to be skilled(especially as a music minister).

21. He is not ashamed to let his emotions show especially in the Presence of God. He is proof that Real Men Worship, and it is normal to be overwhelmed to tears in the presence of God.

22. He has a penchant for proofs. To testify of Divine healing received in the ministry, the testifier is typically required to come with a Medical Report to authenticate the healing.

23. He is moved by conviction and not consensus. The renowned Tuesday Healing & Deliverance service was started not to prove a point, but because the number of people who came for one-on-one prayers for Divine Healing were getting too much to handle in record time, so he sought The Lord and trusted Him to heal many at once in a weekly service which was latter tagged “Healing and Deliverance Service”.

24. Despite pastoring a global ministry with large followership, Dr. Paul Enenche fully submits to, and reverences his Father in the Faith (in the person of Bishop David O. Oyedepo of Living Faith Church) and he is not ashamed to say it. He once said that Bishop called and asked “Where are you?” And he responded “Where do you want me to be, Sir?” That’s a rare trait of true followership in a generation that despises Mentoring and “Fathering”.

25. Despite his mammoth accomplishments, there is not a single air of “arrival” around Dr. Paul Enenche. He jumps at EVERY chance at an impartation from specific vessels he recognises and respects.

26. Dr. Paul has written some of the most life-changing and encounter-inducing hymns and Spiritual songs by Divine Inspiration; most of which are songs of adoration, of worship, of praise, and of deliverance. According to him, more than 90% of the songs are direct downloads either from the place of deep worship, or from dream encounters. As to the number of songs received and written by Dr. Paul Enenche, The writer of this post lost count after about the 200th Song.

27. He is deeply concerned about the peace and progress of His Country, Nigeria and he has a soft spot for Military men especially those in the battle front.

28. He is committed to the needy in the society. Not only is he with his wife responsible for the School fees of countless children and young adults up to tertiary level, they give substantially to ALL the Orphanages and Foster Homes in the Federal Capital Territory on a monthly basis. That widows in the ministry are empowered by the ministry to provide for themselves and their dependants is not news.

29. Dr. Enenche does not believe in half measures. According to him, “If you are there, be there”. You are either giving it all you’ve got, or you have no business being there at all.

30. He is a man of compassion. I personally believe that was one of the qualities The Lord saw when He endowed Him with the gifts of healing and the working of miracles.

31. He is a man of great intercession. Anyone that has had Dr. Paul Enenche pray for them personally will easily testify that he prays for people like he is directly affected by their pain and discomfort.

32. He is a man of unbroken consistency. There are no “off days” with Dr. Enenche, and Bishop Abioye of Living Faith Church, Goshen testifies to this. To him, the end of a programme no matter how successful is the beginning of heightened spiritual exercises; not the time to go on holiday.

33. Dr. Paul Enenche is a man of great faith. Glory Dome in 4 years in the peak of the Economic Crunch that befell Nigeria? That’s faith!

34. He supports and uplifts his wife. He envisaged marrying a woman who would stand shoulder to shoulder with him in Ministry and God brought Dr. Becky to him. He speaks against men who underrate and put down their wives instead of build them up.

35. Dr. Paul is an instrument of restoration of hope to multitudes. There were times we appeared for church service gloomy and heavy (most times because of the happenings in the nation) and he sensed it, addressed it, and lit our candles with not just hope but faith and Joy. We end up leaving such services with rekindled faith because “That Devil is a Bastard and he can NEVER be in Control!”

36. His ministry can be likened to a Spiritual bootcamp so that within a short while of consistently listening to his teachings, the vegetable-hearted person is transformed into a lion- hearted force.

37. Every teaching from his ministry is backed up with an attendant grace to implement what is being taught.

38. Dr. Paul Enenche is Tenacious. His wife testifies to seeing him over the years yearn for certain dimensions of the anointing; and he would subject himself to relentless rigorous spiritual exercises till he enters his desired realm.

39. His teachings are laced with personal life instances to further buttress the fact that the principles he teaches are practicable and can be imbibed by anyone who is determined to improve on themselves.

40. Dr. Paul Enenche is audacious. As a medical student, he had visited home from campus with “raw campus fire” only to discover that a woman was deceiving the whole clan by Divination through a familiar Spirit. He heard her “tongues” and discerned on the spot that it was not of God. He laid hands on her and checked the spirit of Divination out of her. At the point of this compilation, the woman in question was still alive and kicking, and with no ability to “prophesy”.

41. Dr. Paul Enenche is unusually energetic. I remember watching him preach with fire in Europe on a Saturday afternoon and he was on the next flight to Abuja later that night. The plane landed at about 5am on Sunday Morning and he was in church in time for the first service at 6am(in the days of six services). I remember him preaching in all six services with fire and vitality like someone that had slept eight hours the night before.

42. His ministry is characterized with intense worship. You are sure to enjoy a session of deep, refreshing worship and high praises in every service held in his ministry.

43. Members of the ministry he oversees have never been under any form of pressure to give to the ministry. More often than normal, Dr. Enenche unintentionally skips “Offering Time”. On such days, congregants typically chorus “OFFERING!!!” just before the close of service before he remembers to call for regular service offering.

44. His wife is a living, breathing support system. She is a Pastor not by marriage but by a Divine Call and a mother indeed. They co-minister as a team and the Power of God is always present to heal and deliver.

45. He is the highest single giver to projects of the ministry. He strongly believes that no head of ministry has the right to call special offerings for amounts he is not willing and able to give.

46. Dr. Enenche comes to services like the proverbial pregnant woman under pressure to be delivered of a child and as such, he typically has no time or patience to exchange pleasantries before services. He is aware that people have taken steps of faith, defied Medical warnings (even though he strongly advises against this), spent their last dime in faith, and so on. He is typically under pressure to play his part in ensuring that all that God has packaged for the different services are fully deployed so that people do not travel long distances and make sacrifices in vain.

47. To sit under the ministry of Dr. Paul Enenche is to be guaranteed of hearing the truth no matter how bitter or hard it is. The mammoth crowd that characterizes his ministry is proof that people like the truth no matter how bitter it may be.

48. He has a principle against receiving ‘Honorarium’ from speaking engagements in Government Houses. He believes he is blessed to be a Blessing and a Discipler to the Government and not the other way round.

49. Dr. Enenche is a Discipler of Nations and spheres. He convenes a wide range of programs for people of different spheres of life and influence – Ministers Conferences, Campus Revival Meetings, Apostolic Invasions and crusades around Nigeria and on other continents. By July, the ministry will be flagging off the first ever “International Music Minister’s Conference”.

50. The ministry of Dr. Paul Enenche is proof that Purity is combinable with Prosperity; and that one does not have to be corrupt to command wealth.

51. Dr. Paul Enenche’s ministry is a bridge between the older generation and the newer. People of both generations find his ministry and messages very relatable and relevant to them. His ministry also allows for a wide range of Christian organisations to be comfortable worshipping with them: From the orthodox or mainline churches to the new generation churches.
